Thanks for all the replies! What size float would you use on a river the size of the big Manistee with a Jig, Also, do you guys use shotline when running jigs?

On the big manistee I use 15 gram raven float. If I'm fishing above the dam I use 20 gram

It all depends on the water flow. Normal winter conditions, floats in the 9-12 g. range with shot to float correctly. In the spring under heavy current a larger float 12-20 if it is really humping, and again shot to get the offering down where needed. I run a shot line most of the time, with a leader to the jig of 18-36 inches, that again depends on the current flow. I also normally use 1/16th oz. jigs but will go to 1/8th or even heavier in heavy current.
